Compulsory liability insurance (Povinné ručení)
This is the basic insurance every driver in Czechia needs. It covers costs arising from damage caused to other drivers, pedestrians or their property in an accident where the insured driver is at fault: repairing damaged property, injured parties’ medical costs, legal protection. Every driver must hold valid insurance — driving without it carries a significant fine.
Comprehensive cover (Havarijní pojištění)
Unlike Povinné ručení, comprehensive cover is not compulsory, but it covers damage to your own car regardless of who is at fault. This includes accidents, theft, vandalism and natural disasters — a fuller level of protection than the basic insurance.
What the price depends on
The price is affected by the driver’s age and experience, the car’s model and year, claims history and the chosen cover. We compare offers from several insurers to find the best balance of price and protection for your situation.
